December Board Meeting

Cellular Tower on Venice Blvd Considered at Venice Neighborhood Council Board Meeting

The Venice Neighborhood Council will consider a motion from its Land Use and Planning Committee at its December Board Meeting recommending that the VNC support the Los Angeles Zoning Administrator's denial of cellular tower proposed for roof of 658 Venice Blvd. (on the south side of Venice just east of Abbot Kinney) on the roof of Extra Space Storage because it would exceed the height limit for that building of 25'.

The VNC will consider public input before making its decision. The applicant's request for a variance allowing it to erect the tower created quite a bit of controversy - there will likely be testimony on both sides of the issue.

GroundSwell service / improvements to web site

Dear all,

I have requested the Board allocated $3000 towards a new web hosting service. The request is for our web server to be hosted by an organization called CivicSpaceLabs, the group that wrote the original software we use now. They offer web hosting (the physical computers and network connection) as well as maintaining the software and fixing problems. We've been having problems with our current provider and these guys are the pro's.

Also, if anyone besides me wants to run our web site and/or we want to make custom changes to the site, these guys can do it.

The cost is $50/mo 12*50 = $600 for the basic service
