Pet Food Recall

Hello Richard--
I was hoping you could post this info. on the VNC website. I know most people know about the pet food recall, but what many don't realize is that the list keeps growing.

Many websites have the full list kept up-to-date, but here's one where people can register to get the newest additions within an hour of them being added to the list.

Over 200 cat and dog food items were added to the recall list today. Please forward this information to any family or friends that have pets.

Some of these are new brands and some are extended recalls
(within already recalled brands). This is the largest recall since the initial FDA findings that pet food was killing dogs and cats.

SAVE THE LINCOLN PLACE CATS

HEART BREAKING NEWS:

SAVE THE LINCOLN PLACE CATS

Last Friday night we received a frantic call from one of the remaining residents at Lincoln Place. We knew that people were being forced to move out of the low rent apartment complex. What we didn’t know is that unfortunately many of them left their cats behind. The caller put us in touch with a kind person who had begun to feed when he saw that the cats were thin and starving. A VFTA volunteer immediately rushed to Lincoln Place to meet with him. The place was dark and eerie and completely deserted. As the feeder approached, out of no where cats ran up to him, starving for food. Frightened and disoriented, the kitties have stayed close to what used to be their homes. Up until a short time ago, they were inside their homes, safe and warm with their families. Now they sit on deserted porches, in front of bolted doors, in empty garages, all the places that were once home to them. Although they are now being fed, have gained some weight, their situation is TIME LIMITED. We now have only TWO WEEKS to rescue the Lincoln Place cats before the property will be locked up for good and no one will be able to enter. No one will then be allowed to feed and what usually happens in cases like this is that an extermination company will be called in. These cats are in serious danger. The Lincoln Place cats need your help NOW. We need immediate donations for vet care, and we need foster homes.

Racoons

(in reference to this article: http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/nation/wire/sns-ap-venice-raccoo... )

Your community should be commended for protecting the raccoons and continue to resist those in the area that want them killed or removed. I live in Nevada; the wildlife was here before us humans. We protect our wild horses, mountain lions, and a lot of other critters. I wish I had more raccoons here. We have learned to live with the wild life and it is a treat.

If people took corrective action on their own habits and laziness, there wouldn't be a problem. We don't leave our garbage out. In fact, it is against the law here to feed wild animals. Nature takes care of everything. However, we do kill sick or rabid animals if found. I even love the coyotes tho they are really dangerous and a problem....still, I mean them no harm as they only want to live.
