Neighborhood Information

Abadoned Apartment Complex behind Ross and South of Lake

Does anyone know what the situation is with the 100+ units located behind Ross? It is fenced up and there is a security guard on his bike. The units are all vacant although I do see what appears to be a few people actually living inside.

Is this for future low-income housing - does anyone know??

Thanks!!

Neighborhood Projects funding

Looks like there is a list of projects to be considered here:

http://venicenc.org/node/947

It's important that as many community members as possible show up at the NC meeting June 17 to express their opinion to the Board about which projects should receive funding.

PS> There are many good ideas here, my three favorites are:

* Venice/Marina Rotary Club –Venice Fire Station mural
* LAPD – surveillance camera
* Venice Heritage Foundation – move old "Red Car" to Venice

Whole Foods on Lincoln

If anyone is curious about the Whole Foods market opening up on Lincoln, the LUPC has posted some interesting information, including the floor plan:

http://venicenc.org/Projects#Whole%20Foods

Apparently the goal is to open in August of 2008. The laundry, Dollar Store, Arco and Tomas Burger are not going to change, but the entire parking lot will be upgraded. The plan I believe also included adding better landscaping and sound wall protection for the neighbors behind the market.
