Venice Neighborhood Council & Mar Vista Community Council Hold Joint Meeting on Clean Money for City Elections
A workshop on full public funding for Los Angeles city election campaigns will be held Thursday, April 10, from 6:30pm to 8:30 pm at the Walgrove Elementary School Auditorium at 1630 Walgrove Ave.
The workshop, jointly sponsored by the Venice Neighborhood Council and Mar Vista Community Council, will give community members an opportunity to register their opinions about whether a “Clean Money” system should be adopted by the city, and how such a system should operate.
The goals of “Clean Money” public funding are to:
• increase voter and candidate participation in elections
• limit special interest money & give candidates a level playing field
• attract more women and minorities to run for office
The Los Angeles City Council is soliciting feedback on public funding for City elections through workshops conducted by neighborhood councils throughout the city. This is a vital opportunity for community members to make their voices heard on a change that could have profound effects on the future of our city government.
This meeting is open to all. There is no charge for attendance. For more information contact Marc Saltzberg, outreach@VeniceNC.org or call 310-606-2015.
