FENCES AND HEDGES.... PRIVATE PROPERTY!
.
Jerry brings up a good point, our lot sizes are small. However 6foot+ fences/hedges at the front of a property promotes disconnect and isolation. This is not about giving up our property to the city (see rear alley set back rules for that mess). Remember when neighbors visited over fences? A great example of the negative impact of high fencing is 25th Avenue - Once a lovely street and now a dark corridor consisting of 8foot+ solid fencing and hardly a neighbor in sight.
Jerry, I have lived here almost 30 years, I grew-up here. I'm also a property owner. It does not matter how tenured you are in Venice, or how much you own - but since you have been here almost as long as me, you should easily remember that 25 years ago ours was a much more cohesiive, friendly, accessible community - Maybe the sense of neighborhood started to diminish as the fence heights started rising.
I would like to see something more in the 5foot range, that way we are still part of the neighborhood but can also use our yard - Our kids can still play in the yard with the dog without our worrying about their safety. I think 5feet is still friendly, accessible and neighborly and frankly, that's how I'd like our community be.

Massive Sheds
An architect went to LACP to obtain a garage permit in the rear yard. The property has 2 car garage in front it is immpossible for a vehicle to enter the rear yard. It is s fraud permit. The homeowners have built a massive shed the size of a double car garage I am going to go around the Oxford triangle with a petition to stop the proliferation of massive SHEDs the size of double car garages Please let me know if you will sign the petition thank you
