SPARC is known for its support for and development of public murals throughout Los Angeles, plus its programs benefiting local artists and youth in the community.

This legendary art center has hosted numerous art exhibits in the building that was formerly the Venice Police Station. The original jail cell still stands and has been converted
into a store with wonderful handmade art items for sale.

Make sure to see the current exhibit in the gallery space, "Resisting Loss...Weaving Traditions" by Oaxacan artist Pantelon Ruiz Martinez and network
with Chamber Members and guests. Remember to bring your business cards! More Info

Founded in 1976 by muralist Judith F. Baca, painter Christina Schlesinger and filmmaker Donna Deitch, the Social and Public Art Resource Center (SPARC) is
an arts center that produces, preserves and conducts educational programs about community based public art works.

SPARC espouses public art as an organizing tool for addressing contemporary issues, fostering cross-cultural understanding and promoting civic dialogue. Over
the last 31 years SPARC has created murals and other forms of public art throughout Los Angeles plus national and international venues.
