Hotel Ray
Hello LUPC members and happy post Labor Day. I know you are reviewing the City of LA staff report tomorrow night, and I thought having these pictures of our renderings and floor plans might be helpful. You have seen them before, but I wanted to make sure you all had them before your meeting tomorrow. In addition, I will momentarily send another email with our fact sheet and the latest community benefit package overview.
I know many of you were not a part of the LUPC that made the original recommendation to support our proposed project. It was a tremendous meeting that came about after many appearances before the committee working to the place we arrived that evening. There were supporters and opponents present that night and LUPC was very thoughtful in their recommendations. They spoke to the importance of the greening and the commitment to the Eames family. They were pleased with the massing and the open space left at Abbot Kinney and Brooks and appreciative of our commitment to working with groups like Venice 2000 and the local artists.
When the final motion was made to support our project one of the members spoke to the fact that this project was precedent setting, something he never liked to see, however, in this case he found our project precedent setting for all the right reasons. That if a project came forward with this extensive of a green program and this commitment to the local community and the history of the structure, then it should be awarded exceptions to the Venice plan.
When the night ended, we had a unanimous recommendation of support from the committee you now sit on. We were and are very proud of that. It is something we worked VERY hard for and took very seriously.
As always, please feel free to contact me with any questions or comments you might have. Thanks again.
Kristen
