Please mark your calendars for
signature Venice event on Saturday, MAY
5
.
Each year a group of remarkably dedicated
people organize an amazing tour of 25-30 homes
and gardens in Venice. The route changes each
year and brings new surprises. This year
the meandering walk streets East of Abbot
Kinney and North of Venice Blvd are highligted.

p.s. The Garden Tour always needs garden
enthusiasts to volunteer as docents on 5/5.
If you love gardens and people and want to
help, please contact Erin Culver at vgt@culver-design.com
and she will tell you all about it.

At the most recent Community Police Advisory
Board (C-PAB) Captain Williams advised that
with summer
upon us our community must be on guard to
prevent common property crimes that tend to
increase around
this time. Some advice includes locking home
doors and windows and keeping valuables out
of site in
vehicles. A map of local crime reports in
your area can be found at
www.lapdcrimemaps.org

.
More crime prevention ideas can be found in the
Pacific
Community Newsletter
.

If you would like to establish a
neighborhood
watch

in your neighborhood, our local C-PAB is here
to help. For more information,
contact 310-606-2015 or email info@grvnc.org.
A neighborhood watch is
a great way to meet your neighbors, stay
informed about saftey issues and help
prevent crime in your
immediate neighborhood.

Saturday, April 28, 2007, 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Dr. Lucille M. "Lucy" Jones
Loyola Marymount University
St. Roberts Hall Auditorium
Westchester

Dr. Lucy Jones is a seismologist with the
U.S. Geological Survey and
Scientist-in-Charge of the USGS's Earthquake
Program in southern
California. Dr. Jones, who has become famous
for her lively TV guest
appearances whenever the Southern California
earth trembles, will
speak on "Earthquakes: Shift Happens - Dare
to Prepa Prepare", living with
earthquakes in southern California.

The VNC offers many opportunities to get
involved in
your community through volunteer work. Please
consider joining a committee that interests you,
starting a committee or helping the Board
with our
ongoing organizational tasks.

Sincerely,

Richard Myers, Communications Officer
