4th Annual Venice Area Disaster Preparedness EXPO

Dear Venice Area Stakeholder and/or Friends:
Again, we are fast approaching that day, when we enlist Venice area residents and business interests in an attempt to bring to bear, the importance of being prepared to handle the adversity presented by disaster (brought on by nature or terrorist threat).
The fourth Annual Venice Area Disaster Preparedness EXPO is planned for Saturday, April 28, 2007, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. To give this event the impact that is necessary to move a community to a position of preparedness, we have assigned a theme:
"A Prepared neighborhood responds to disaster with regard to the peace and wellbeing of its inhabitants. To be more direct, a prepared neighborhood is not liely to be riotous nor is it apt to participate in civil disobedience, when faced with disaster."
We have just three weeks to complete the arrangements for this important event. Again, I am asking that you join us in finalizing the plan for this event. Your participation is vital to the success of this endeavor. We will meet, Friday, April 6, at 1:00 PM (for one hour). Please this information on to who ever you believe should be involved. We have invited area political respresentatives, emergency agencies, and musical performers. We will give away 50 Emergency Response kits and there will be hot dogs.
The Vera Davis McClendon Youth and Family Center is the City's Emergency Response Center covering this area. All City of Los Angeles services will be coordinated from here, should there be a disconnect from downtown. But, personal responsibility is the key. Each household must be prepared to handle the emergency response needs it encounters for at least 73 hours.
As a resident and/or stakeholder of the Venice area, we ask that you assist us in preparing an EXPO that will encourage the Venice Area to get prepared for any disaster.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Cliff McClain, manager
