Ad-hoc committees renewal at Oct 30 meeting
[forwarded to all committee chairs by Yolanda Gonzalez, VNC
Vice President]
Dear Ad-Hoc Committee Chair,
According to Robert's Rules, all ad-hoc committees must have a specific task and must terminate when that task is accomplished.
At it's meeting on October 9, 2006, the VNC Executive Committee approved a Standing Rule which states: All ad-hoc committees which do not have a specific ending date shall expire as of the first meeting of a new Board of Officers term. This means that your committee will expire as of the
Board meeting on October 30, 2006.
As the Officer now assigned (by the new by-laws) to oversee all committees I am requesting that you attend the board meeting on the 30th (or send a committee representative) and be prepared to give a short oral (2-3 minute) report on your committee's accomplishments for the previous year and whther or not you feel that the committee should be re-established. If you feel that your committee still has unfinished business, please let the Board know what that is and how long you estimate your committee will need to fulfill its task.
All renewals should happen at the same meeting so that there will be no interruption of business.
If the Board chooses to renew your committee, then the President is tasked with naming (or retaining) the committee chair.
I hope to see you on the 30th and look forward to working with you during the upcoming year.
/sig Yolanda Gonzalez
