TRASH REMOVAL IN VENICE, A SERVICE MAINTAINED POORLY BY THE CITY!

I am a business owner on Hampton Drive in Venice. I own a small restaurant and share the store front with another small business. The trash situation in Venice has gotten completely out of control. Everyday, I pick up trash in the alleys because it affects the integrity of my food establishment. Today, I watched a garbage truck pick up a can across the street and leave a trail of trash and debris in the street and on the sidewalk. Its disgusting and very disappointing.
I cannot say anything about the homeless population in Venice, it is not my place to say or to judge. As a business owner in this area I have accepted all that comes with this fact; the urine and defecation in the alley, the woman who sleeps outside of my door, the shopping carts, etc. However, it is the city's responsibility to pick up the trash that is in the cans on the street on the designated day of pickup. Not to do a half assed job and leave trash and filth in and around the street because the driver(s) are too lazy to pick up the remains. The trash, albeit full, was in the can. After the trash collectors came, it is everywhere else. I have pictures of this travesty.

Your attention to this matter would be greatly appreciated. I can be reached at anytime.

Sincerely,
Alexis Lerner

Agreed...

I have witnessed the same thing over and over. Garbage trucks who, after "picking up the garbage" actually left the street a disgusting mess. Drivers & their coworkers should be fined for that.
I'll be that if a cop saw a person throw trash on the ground they would be have a ticket in hand.

As they say!

!IFYOU WANT IT DONE RIGHT DO IT YOURSELF!!!! Been here since the 70's. Some who don't know how to adapt would say VENICE is dirty. To cut to the quick. Overpopulation is the cause of over flowing trash cans today. But at least the air smells fresh, TOURIST! Think to yourself of a time when your tax money has actually gone to your benefit for more than a second, Time to be a grown up! If you don't like pink berry cups in the street get out there and sweep it up yourself.
