The merchants of Abbot Kinney and the Venice Neighborhood Council are proud to announce the inaugural "1st Fridays on Abbot Kinney" event. Beginning on June 1, 2007, and continuing on the 1st Friday of every month through November, participating Abbot Kinney businesses will be open until 10pm. The late summer nights will feature Abbot Kinney's typical fabulous finds with the added addition of each merchant's respective Venetian desires; drinks, snacks, entertainment, discounts and specials.

What: To celebrate the 10th Anniversary of the opening and naming of the Center and to let the city know "How much we need the Center" also to honor those that have made a "Commitment to Service"
The Radio station 92.3 will be on site spinning old and new R&B tunes. There will be informational booth, things for Kids, entertainment and Food (hot dogs).

Potluck Feast - Celebrate the Fall Equinox
The Chumash, a Native American tribe from Southern California, celebrate their fall equinox sun ceremony during their month of Hutash (September). It takes place "after the harvest is picked, processed and stored....Kakunupmawa is a ritual name for the Sun. According to traditional Chumash lore, all humans were known as children of the Sun, or 'sons of Kakunupmawa.' " The spiritual thoughts of the tribe would become focused on the importance of unity in the face of winter confinement, death and rebirth.

VENICE will take to the streets to celebrate its 101 years of community at the 22nd annual Abbot Kinney Festival. Running through the heart of Venice, Abbot Kinney Blvd will be closed to traffic from Main St. to Venice Blvd to accommodate 2 stages of live music, dancers and performance artists, a spectacular children's court, 3 food areas, a Spirit Garden, Art Pavilion and over 300 vendors featuring original, handcrafted goods.
