On December 26, 2004, off the coast of Sumatra, Indonesia, the world witnessed the awesome power of a Tsunami. Since that time, increased concerns about the possibility of such a tsunami occurring in the Santa Monica Bay have led to more information and action by government agencies. Because we in Venice live in an exposed, low coastal plain, flooding from a combination of heavy rains, high tides, and high waves, or even a tsunami is probable. Learn the risks of how a landslide off of the Palos Verdes cliffs could cause a 42 foot tsunami wave to strike Venice, Marina del Rey, and Playa del Rey.

The day long event, sponsored by the Venice Chamber of Commerce, features the hanging of the Venice Sign and installation of the Graham sculpture at Windward Circle. VNC will have a booth. A co-sponsorship at the Platinum Lion Sponsor level ($500.) will allow the VNC logo to be produced on a poster that will be hand delivered to all Venice households.
