The merchants of Abbot Kinney and the Venice Neighborhood Council are proud to announce the inaugural "1st Fridays on Abbot Kinney" event. Beginning on June 1, 2007, and continuing on the 1st Friday of every month through November, participating Abbot Kinney businesses will be open until 10pm. The late summer nights will feature Abbot Kinney's typical fabulous finds with the added addition of each merchant's respective Venetian desires; drinks, snacks, entertainment, discounts and specials.

On December 26, 2004, off the coast of Sumatra, Indonesia, the world witnessed the awesome power of a Tsunami. Since that time, increased concerns about the possibility of such a tsunami occurring in the Santa Monica Bay have led to more information and action by government agencies. Because we in Venice live in an exposed, low coastal plain, flooding from a combination of heavy rains, high tides, and high waves, or even a tsunami is probable. Learn the risks of how a landslide off of the Palos Verdes cliffs could cause a 42 foot tsunami wave to strike Venice, Marina del Rey, and Playa del Rey.

Venice Stakeholders will be asked to ratify important VNC Bylaws changes and Board appointment at a Special Election Meeting to be run concurrently with the VNC Town Hall Meeting. The items to be voted on are:
1. Confirm or replace the VNC Board's appointment Appointment of Nick Karno to Board as a Community Officer.
2. Approve Bylaws amendment to establish Standing Arts Committee
3. Approve Bylaws amendment to establish Standing Ocean Front Walk (OFW) Committee

To discuss and vote whether the VNC will co-sponsor Venice Fest on 6/24 for a cost allocation of $500.00.
The day long event, sponsored by the Venice Chamber of Commerce, features the hanging of the Venice Sign and installation of the Graham sculpture at Windward Circle. VNC will have a booth.
A co-sponsorship at the Platinum Lion Sponsor level ($500.) will allow the VNC logo to be produced on a poster that will be hand delivered to all Venice households. VNC will also be listed as a on press and promotional material.
