Los Angeles City Department of Transportation
Overnight Parking Program at Lot 731 (200 No. Venice Bl.)
Proposed Operation/Implementation
1) This is a pilot program.
2) Tentative date for implementation - April 1, 2004. This is contingent upon feedback from Parking Enforcement and the availability of the new signage.
3) Program
to be implemented on Lot 731 (200 No. Venice Blvd) only, and in the area east
of the bridge on the Lot. There are 110 designated parking spaces in
this area.
4) Hours of operation: 6:00 pm until 9:00 am daily - 7 days a week.
5) Overnight permitted
vehicles are to be moved by 9:00 am in order to allow public parking access
to beach goers. Those overnight
permitted vehicles on the lot after 9:00 am will be ticketed by the Attendant
and the permittee will have to pay the daily posted rate for that day.
6) Overnight parking
permits will be sold monthly to the public on a 'first come, first serve' basis
between the 1st and the 3rd of each month. The suggested discounted cost is $55; this includes parking occupancy tax. The cost is based
on the $2 nightly rate approved by the Cal Coastal Commission.
7) All permittees are required to complete the Overnight Parking Monthly Permit form.
8) These monthly permits will be available for
sale on the 15th of each month for the following month and payment is due by
the 1st of each month. Costs will not be prorated
for overnight parking permits sold after the 1st.
9) Such permits must be displayed in the vehicles while parked on the Lot during the posted hours. A sample of this permit will be provided (at the 2/18 or 2/24 meeting with CD 11).
10) Overnight parking will only be provided for passenger vehicles. (No Recreational Vehicles, oversized vehicles, trucks, etc.)
11) The Overnight Parking Program is differentiated from the night parking (6:00 pm - 11:00 pm). These 2 parking programs will be segregated. The night parkers will continue to put their parking fees in the honor box on the west-end of the Lot (before the bridge). Overnight parking permittees are not allowed to park in this area.
12) Signage will be made to differentiate the designated parking areas and direct parkers to their allowed parking areas. There will be signage at the entrance of the Lot and at designated areas on the Lot.
►Note:
People wishing to purchase a permit for this pilot program need to go to the
parking booth at Lot 731, fill out an application, and pay $55. per month, on
the 1st of every month.
Permits are available on a first-come-first-serve-basis.
