1.) Abbot Lofts (1645-1657 Abbot Kinney Blvd.
Motion by Sabrina Venskus and seconded by Michael McGuffin
for LUPC to express support, in form of a Community Impact Statement (CIS), for
the proposed development of Abbot Lofts.
2.). 2432-2432 1/2 Walnut
Motion by Sabrina Venskus and seconded by Zoe
Garaway to support a limit of six residents at the proposed rehabilitation
center located at 2432 and 2432 1/2 Walnut Ave. in Venice, and to transmit this
motion to the GRVNC Board for approval for transmittal to the State Licensing
Board and the L.A. City Council.

Motion: The
Grassroots Venice Neighborhood Council requests that Councilperson Cindy
Misckowski advocate for and recommend to the City Council that money from the
Venice Surplus Property Fund shall be allocated in conjunction with donations
from the community to construct a freshwater pond with circulating water to
support waterfowl, particularly ducks, at the head of the Grand Canal and to
encourage them not to cross busy streets and migrate into neighborhoods in
search of fresh water.
GRVNC further advocates that (Caution; Ducks Crossing) signs be included in the
allocation and placed at necessary intersections. The Committee recommends that
the Council Office utilize the same methodology in determing the cost of the Canal
Sluice Gates to determine the costs of this project and report such to GRVNC.
C. Boardwalk Committee Report
Motion: GRVNC Government
Relations Officer will send information regarding the proposed Boardwalk
Ordinance to the City Attorney.

13. Town Hall Co-Sponsorship Re: Playa
Vista and Printed Announcement
Motion: GRVNC
approves co-sponsorship with other Neighborhood Councils and Groups of Town
Hall meeting regarding Playa Vista on September 20th inclusive of $2500 to be
expended for production and distribution of a three sided flyer, one side in
Spanish, announcing the Town Hall event and providing an update on the status
of GRVNC.
14. Board concurs with position of Attorney
Lawrence Teeter Re: Playa Vista Phase Two
Motion: GRVNC
concurs with and adopts position of letter submitted by Lawrence Teeter,
Attorney at Law as submitted to the Los Angeles City Clerk on September 8th,
2004 and to the Planning and Land Use Management Committee in objection of
Playa Vista Phase Two. GRVNC will submit a letter to this effect at any and all
upcoming public hearings on the matter.
