Note: The Committee agreed the Chair may invoke a two-minute limit on comments from the Committee in each agenda item.
Note: The Executive Committee
shall send a letter to DONE regarding election challenges and post it on
the Council web site.
Note: The Committee agreed
to co-sponsor a press conference on October 22 regarding the proposed boardwalk
ordinance.

shall create an ad hoc committee for thanksgiving assistance Program

by LA Councilperson Greg Smith / For years, special interests have used
lobbyists to influence decisions at City Hall. With the advent of Neighborhood
Councils, these same special interests now look to use their resources to
influence the official positions of Neighborhood Councils
While lobbyists have every right to promote the positions of their clients to Neighborhood Councils, their methods of promotion cannot include any means of unintentional or intentional deception.
Therefore GRVNC supports the establishment of a definition of “Official Neighborhood Council Position” be applied in the same manner as the term “municipal legislation by a Neighborhood Council.
GRVNC further supports that the definition of “Official Neighborhood Council Position” be applied in the same manner as the term “municipal legislation” in the definitions of lobbying activities, lobbyists, and all other appropriate places in the City’s Lobbying Ordinance.
GRVNC further supports prohibition of registered lobbyists from serving on Boards of Neighborhood Councils for he purpose of clarifying the relationships between Neighborhood Councils and Lobbyists.
3. Moved by McCrary / With the tremendous amount of services Venice 2000 offers it would be a great opportunity to work with this organization. GRVNC can work with the V2K and the community with relation to Gang Prevention and Public Safety as an ad hoc Committee.
Stan Mohammed will chair. DeDe McCrary and Lydia Ponce will co chair.
Goals of the Committee are as follows; Assist with resources and information,
offer workshops, assist in finding jobs, communication, and resolutions are
primary reasons.
MISSION STATEMENT
Objectives: Providing support and encouragement to keep the community
youth in school through completion and getting young adults who have dropped
out to finish their education. Providing education services to individuals
in economic self-sufficiency and success in education. Providing instructions
and training in the establishment of business creation and maintenance
as well as help in archiving employment with others. Mentoring the community
youth and directing them thus leading to a healthy and productive life
free from violence, poverty and ignorance. Providing the necessary services
to help ex-offenders lead productive lives and to keep them out of jail
and the criminal lifestyle.
4. Moved by Davis / GRVNC
shall support the Venice Bulldogs homecoming on October 23rd and
competition on October 31st by reimbursment up to three hundred dollars for
tiaras and decorations.
5. Moved by Davis / The
Committee agreed to invite Kevin Keller to the next Board meeting to provide
a full accounting of the Venice Surplus Property Fund .to date and discuss
the Community Design Overlay.
