Poverty & Homelessness Committee Report
Presented
17-December-2003 GRVNC Board Meeting

The committee successfully met for the first time 15-Dec at the Vera
Davis McClendon Center.

Between 17 and 20 people attended. Attendees included 3 GRVNC officers,
Venice housed residents, Venice unhoused residents or stakeholders, 2
members of Venice Food Not Bombs, and 2 employees of St Joseph Center.

Using a consensus method for decision-making, the committee came to an
agreement of the general committee mission and a supporting statement
(subject to further approval at the next committee meeting).
Committee Mission Supporting Statement:
Acting as a committee of the GRVNC, identify the current situation of
poverty and homelessness in Venice to insure the basic human rights of
all members of the Venice community. Furthermore, we will work to
network with the GRVNC, the Venice community, and other organizations with
similar missions.

The committee agreed to meet again Monday 22-December from 7 - 9 PM at
the Vera Davis Center. Flyers, emails, public posting, and other forms
of outreach will be conducted (by committee Chair) to encourage even
more Venice stakeholder attendance.
Tentative Agenda for 22-December meeting:
	*	Review Committee Mission Statement (created 15-Dec meeting)
	*	Group Brainstorming (continued from 15-Dec meeting)
o	Identify Issues and Possible Projects or Activities
	*	Reach Consensus on One or Two Committee Priorities and/or Projects
